sgreifwonder on "The needs of the blogvisitor"

I decided to turn a collection of short stories into an internet novel, to which I regularly add new episodes. Comparable with a sitcom- same characters starring, different situations and adventures. I've opened a Page for that, to prevent chapters getting lost between articles and poems and whatsoever and spare anyone search harassment.

Now it seems sensible to me to have the first chapter posted on top of the page, there, where the blog visitor gets his first few after he clicked the link.
On the other hand, a visitor that has been following the stories for some time, would perhaps rather see the most recent chapter on top. Otherwise he would every time have to scroll down in Chapter 1 and click the highest number in pages to get to the newest chapter.

I could put clickable links of every chapter in a sidewidget, but there are already long lists of other posts and comments and links there, and the calendar and a few more ditties. The series may grow into 40, 50 chapters eventually. That's ever so many links in the widget. I prefer to keep the link to the novel in Pages as simple as possible: just the title (and a short summary in 'About').

Anyone with a better idea?

(No link as yet, the older stories need some corrections and revisions so I put it all on 'Private')
