zharuth on "Wordpress installation locally"

I have downloaded Latest WordPress (Version 3.0.1). Also have installed XAMPP to run Apache and MySql (Was using this for joomla). When i try to run Apache on Xampp, it starts and after few seconds it stops, have no idea why it's happening.

Anyway, I wanted to know how to run/install WordPress locally in my machine, as am working on a WordPress website project, I need learn few things.
