Are there advantages one way or the other in using either the (free) blogname.wordpress.com URL versus the (paid) blogname.com URL (or .whatever)? I have URLs to which I could map my blogs, and will probably do that; but I would like to get clear on whether there is a downside to doing so, in terms of getting traffic to the blog. For example, I am wondering if the volume of traffic to wordpress.com helps boost the page ranking of blogname.wordpress.com beyond what the page ranking would be for blogname.com, assuming the exact same number of posts, comments, and links from other sites to this particular blog.
