Okay I read all the posts in the support I could and I've read several posts in the forum but I'm a bit confused.
I just bought my own domain (with hostgator). I have my content from my wp.com all set up and transfer to wp.org
Now I'm looking in to having my wp.com page redirect to my new domain. The only way I can see to do it is the domain mapping for $10/year right?
Well reading the page on domain mapping it says ( http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/) :
"Before Upgrading
The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes and plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and must still abide by our Terms of Service accordingly."
So if I'm confused. I get that you can buy a domain and domain mapping with wp.com so the no advertising makes since but since I'm self hosted can I still not use ads if I try to redirect my wp.com blog to my new domain?? One of hte main reasons I got a domain was for ads so if I can't do it with a redirect...then I can't redirect, correct?
Thanks for any help,
Kendra
